Celebrating Evelyn Cochrane (1963-2025)

It is 4 months since Evelyn Cochrane, the wife of Owen (our club secretary and photographer) died.

Evelyns funeral was held in Edinburgh, as it was easier for more family members to attend.  The family always intended to have a celebration for Evelyn in Inverness in the summer.

Owen, daughter Sami and son Cameron (who played all his junior years at Highland and the occasional senior match as he is based in Glasgow) are holding a little "do" at Highland Rugby Football Club on Saturday 16th August which will run alongside the days other events.

Owen has planned a BBQ at 5:00pm and a Quiz (so bring your brains) in the evening from approx 7pm with the aim of raising some money for charity. Profits from the BBQ and Quiz will go the Carers Scotland. We'll be serving superb butchers burger at £5, you can enter a team of 4 into the quiz for £10 a team.

This is not formal event - it's the chance for the family to celebrate Evelyn among friends at the club and a place where friends outwith the rugby community can come along and share their memories of Evelyn.

So if you know Evelyn and the family and you can make it along for an hour or two that would be superb. Remember, this is a celebration so lots of laughter and cheer please!

Owen said "We have found that meeting somebody for the first time after Evelyn's passing is hard, but the fact that you remember her, means so much to us".

Sami, Cameron and Owen would love to see you, have a chat and catch up.

Everything will run alongside our other events on Saturday.

Our senior mens rugby squad who will be putting out two teams to play Orkney RFC, both games will be kicking off at 12 noon to allow our visitors to get back north in time to catch the ferry home.

Saturday also sees The Rugby Championship kicking off, and you'll be able to watch South Africa v Australia on the big screen with KO at 4:10pm
