Highland are Isle of Mull 7's Champions 2023

Highland are Isle of Mull 7's 2023 Champions!! A strong Highland squad (and several hangers on - sorry Management Team) travelled to the Mull 7's this past weekend. A total of 8 womens teams and 16 men's from all over Scotland overcame the now all too familiar ferry difficulties with the help of Isle of Mull RFC to take part in this years tournament. Each of the womens teams and the mens were placed in four team groups for their respective round competitions round robin stage. Highland were in group 4 with a Barbarians team, as well as Crieff RFC, and Livingston. Highland won their group undefeated, and without conceding a score, winning 19-0 against the Barbarians, 21-0 against Livingston, and 36-0 against Crieff. This meant a semi-final against a lot of familiar faces in the 3rd Scots army team who had won group 3 in similar fashion. It was a typically competitive match between these two, with Highland going through to the final with a try and conversion in the last play of the game to win by 14-12.

They faced Boroughmuir in the final, where once again Highland struck with the last play of the game to win 15-14 to take the title. To add a cherry on top - the Flying Mullet, Mikey Gordon, was named Men's Player of the Tournament. You can take it for granted that the wet weather did not put a dampener on the celebrations. Well done to the playing squad: James Blair, Rhuairidh Cameron, Dan Corr, Mikey Gordon, Magnus Henry, Finlay Howell, Andrew Kellock (CC), Dougie Kellock, Andrew Kyle, Fraser MacDonald, Euan Milton (CC), Patrick Ratumaisese, Josh Talbot- Heigh, & Harrison Wright. The coaching team were: Alex MacDonald - doing his best Davie Carson impression, Jack Sutherland, Liam Quinn, Connor Ross, and Sam Murphy. Well done lads great effort all round! Now you just need to retain it next year.
