3rd XV up for tough challenge in Inverurie
This weekend the Sea Eagles are on the road to face a stern challenge from Garioch RFC on their home ground at Kellands Park Inverurie .
The Sea Eagles will be buoyed by a good performance in their 48-5 win over Deeside at Canal Park last weekend. This followed an earlier win at home against Dyce. The coaches were delighted with the effort delivered by the team and the improvement in general play.
However, they are under no illusions that they face a tougher task this weekend in Inverurie. Their opponents, Garioch RFC, finished the 1st part of the season undefeated in 10 games.
Statistically it looks like the conference that Highland , Stornoway, & RAF Kinloss were in was more competitive – but statistics can say anything you want.
Currently RAF Kinloss and Garioch lead the charge at the top of the Post Split table. Each team have 10 points. Significantly RAF Kinloss have only played 2 games to Garioch’s 3, and perhaps most importantly Kinloss won by 48-20 down at Garioch last week.
There is no doubt the Garioch coaching team won’t have to look far to find motivation for their players ahead of this weeks game. Win and they are still in with a title shout, lose and it looks all over.
With this in mind, the Sea Eagles Coaches Stuart Lewis, Colin Wallace, and Gareth Lewis-Ing will be seeking the same commitment to the cause as shown last week, together with another improvement in gameplay and accuracy. If the team can deliver that – there is the potential for an upset here.
