This weekend, 28th Jan, see’s Highland’s 1st XV welcome Stewart’s Melville RFC to Canal Park for the first time since October 2018, when Highland won in a very entertaining game.
Stewart’s Melville got promoted to Nat League Div 1 last season together with GHK, and it’s fair to say they have found life in this league quite tough. Their only win, so far, this far was against GHK on the opening day of the season.
As usual the win loss column doesn’t tell all of the story, as they have lost 4 games by a single score. They are competitive on the field – even if they aren’t securing the wins.
One of those where they only just lost out was Highland’s narrow 18-21 away win at Inverleith back on 15th October last year.
Highland will be desperate to get back on the field at Canal Park after building up for the scheduled game against league leaders Kelso last week, only for the game to be cancelled on Friday due to the snow and ice.
This should be a good one – see you there.
