The Raptors are on the road this week well as the 1st XV and the U18.
They are away to Mackie RFC for another fixture in their pursuit attempt to retain their Caledonia North League Division 2 title.
The Raptors currently lead the league with 46 points from 11 games, two more than the chasing Moray team who have a game in hand.
The Raptors opponents this weekend, Mackie, lie in 3rd slot on 31 point but have played 2 games less than Highland’s 2nd XV. They are still well in the race along with RAF Lossiemouth who also have games in hand.
So as the pressure ratchets up as we work our way through the 2nd half of the season any slips could put the league out of reach for any of the teams at the top.
Highland need to keep up their free scoring exploits, as they did against at the weekend when they ran out 79-12 winners over 2nd bottom Banff. I believe bonus points could make the difference when it comes to determining where the title ends up.
It has to be said that Mackie will offer a different proposition than Banff, as they have generally been very competitive, and have accumulated a few bonus points of their own.
Having said that the Raptors must be feeling confident about what they are doing after Saturdays win. A win is essential – a bonus point win would be really good.
Look out for team details via social media later on this week.
