Last Away Game of Season 22/23
In our penultimate league fixture the 1st XV hit the road and head to Mayfield Dundee to take on Dundee Rugby.
Our tussles with Dundee have typically been close, competitive, and occasionally feisty affairs. We expect no less this time around.
We enter the game having secured a bonus point 26-15 win, beating Aberdeen Grammar away last weekend. A win which also consigned Grammar to their second successive relegation.
Having said that the two positives to come out of that game were securing a win including a try bonus point whilst playing poorly, and the return of Gordon Gregor to first team action in a Man of the Match display.
With that win we currently sit 5th in the league 3 places above Dundee.
Coach Davie Carson made it very clear, when speaking to his players at the end of the game, that a similar level of performance against Dundee would mean a loss. The players chat showed that they knew this themselves, and you can bet they they’ll have been putting more hard work at training this week.
Meanwhile Dundee will be entering the game with plenty of confidence.
Whilst Highland were slugging out a win at Rubislaw against Grammar, Dundee narrowly lost 27-33 at home to Premiership side Glasgow Hawks in the cup.
Proving again they are formidable opposition – especially on their own patch.
The Highland Squad for Saturdays game is as follows:
